We are delighted to share with you that 4E Bernice Wong was one of the Top 10 awardeesof “The 2nd Young STEAM Talent Award" presented by Centum Charitas Foundation, The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, and the Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum! Her research project on ‘OptiScan’ displayed her STEAM talent and won her the title.

This award is an exciting initiative crafted to discover and cultivate exceptional students driven by a fervour for innovation, problem-solving, and creativity. The aim of this Award, jointly organised by "G3 Alliance", is to create a dynamic platform that enables young individuals to unleash their imaginative ideas, cultivate critical thinking abilities, and make a constructive difference in their communities. By addressing the demand for talent development, we aspire to empower gifted youth to utilize their skills for the betterment of society and emerge as leaders in the realms of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. 

This year, over 150 school students from more than 38 regions submitted applications, with 23 exceptional students from across the world advancing to the final round at Cambridge. The Research Proposal Competition fostered critical thinking, interdisciplinary exploration, and intellectual exchange.
 

Two F.5 students entered the Finals which took place at Homerton College, University of Cambridge, where students presented their research proposals before esteemed Cambridge professors and an international audience on 27 Feb 2025.
 

F.5E Cassidy Law has been awarded the Social Sciences & Humanities Studies Subject Area Winner and has received a Subject Area Winner Scholarship while F.5C Abi Ma has received a Finalist Certificate along with a Finalist Scholarship.
 

Organized by the Junior Police Call (JPC) of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) and fully supported by the Bank of China (Hong Kong), the JPC Innovation and Technology (I&T) Competition 2024-25 held its Award Presentation Ceremony and Carnival at the Hong Kong Science Park on April 12, 2025.

 

The competition encourages students to apply their knowledge and skills in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to develop innovative and practical "Smart City" solutions.

 

Hayley Pang (1A) was the second runner-up in the Junior Secondary School Section. Her proposal, “防騙止,” is a security app designed to protect users from fraudulent calls and financial scams, and it also earned the Best Safe City Award.

 

Additionally, the proposal by Pearl Cheong (3B) and Joanna Wong (2B), titled Elderly Miracles, received the Best Smart City Award.

香港文匯報和香港教育工作者聯會今年度首次聯合舉辦了「香港優秀學生公益及社會服務獎」，經過嚴格的評選，最終選出了110名積極參與公益服務的中小學生予以表彰。

 

透過這個獎項，希望引導更多學生關注社會發展，服務社會，培養學生更全面的品格，樹立更積極的人生觀和價值觀，共同建立和諧互愛的社會。

Our warmest congratulations to Valerie Lau Ho Ching (graduate of 2023-24) who has received Tung Wah Group of Hospitals 154th Anniversary Scholarship! Being recognised for her exceptional academic achievements, Valerie currently pursues her undergraduate studies in the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

We are thrilled to announce the outstanding achievements of the SMCC Senior Choir and the St. Joseph's College Chamber Boys' Choir in the Hong Kong Inter-school Choral Festival 2025!
 

On February 7, at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium, our mixed choir gave an amazing performance in the Senior Choir, Group C category and won the Gold Award! This great achievement shows how hard everyone in the choir worked together. Your love for music and commitment to doing your best really stood out on stage, and we are so proud of you!
 

The SMCC Junior Choir also had an unforgettable experience at the Competition and Masterclass of the Hong Kong Inter-school Choral Festival (Junior Division) on February 12, held at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium. Their hard work and amazing performance impressed both the audience and the judges, securing them the prestigious Gold Award!
 

Let's give a round of applause for Kaitlyn Ho from 2B, who was honoured with the Most Promising Pianist Award! Kaitlyn’s exceptional talent, precision, and musicality made a lasting impression, and we are thrilled to see her recognized for her incredible performance. Keep shining, Kaitlyn!

 

Congratulations once again to all our talented choir members! Your dedication, passion, and teamwork have brought pride and joy to our school. We also extend our deepest gratitude to our conductors, teachers, and everyone who supported the choirs throughout their journey.

Bravo, and keep singing with heart and soul! 

This 13-day tour took us from Hong Kong to Argentina, to the edge of the world, then back to Chile, San Diego and Paris, practically half a round across the earth, spending 4 days on sea to reach the icy continent. It is just as serene and untouched by humanity as one might imagine, even as you stand there it still feels so far away.

 

The lessons learnt however, are not new – to protect the environment, to widen your horizons, to respect different cultures, to be more aware of the beauty of your surroundings. What's new, however, is the heightened incentive to act upon them.

 

It is pure luck that we are able to have this experience, and I hope others will be inspired as well.

 

Organized by Hong Kong Tramways’ sister company, Tramplus, the “BuilDING Our Future” Grand Challenge was successfully held on 14th December, 2024. The competition encourages students to integrate innovative technologies into both tram and tourism development, in pursuit of reshaping the riding experience and promoting diverse tourism offerings.
 

The marvellous proposal of our student team, Kathy Cheng (3E) and Lynette Tang (3F), has led them to win the Championship of the English Division in this Grand Challenge. Their winning proposal – “Tram’endous Tramways” – transforms ordinary tram rides into a unique personified cultural experience. They were awarded a cash prize of $10,000 in total and a one-month tram body advertisement to further promote their remarkable achievement.
 

On 25^th November 2024, Carina Chiu (3E), Venus Ho (3E), Annette Wong (3E), Chloe Wong (3E), and Sophie Chan (3F) participated in the 2024 Middle School Ethics Olympiad, a competition in which students debate ethical issues, with 22 schools from Western Australian and Hong Kong.
 

The team was awarded the Silver Medal and has been invited to represent Hong Kong in the 2024 International Middle School Ethics Olympiad on 19^th February 2025.
