UNICEF HK – SDGs eLearn Award Scheme 2024

Our students took part in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) eLearn Award Scheme 2024. The award presentation ceremony was held on 20^th July 2024. The awardees are as follows:

Congratulations to our girls for their excellent achievements in Infomatrix 2024, held in Bucharest, Romania from 31^st May to 4^th June 2024. Among the 28 participants from 17 countries, St. Marians won the following awards in the competition:

Alongside engaging in STEM exchanges with international students, our girls were exposed to a variety of cultures which helps nurture global awareness and cross-cultural communication. This exposure leads to international recognition, bolstering both academic and career opportunities. These competitions frequently open doors to scholarships, internships, and networking possibilities. Additionally, the experience helps ignite a passion for specific fields, fostering enduring international friendships that enrich personal and professional development.

Inter-school Table Tennis Competition 2023/24

2023/24 is a fruitful year of St. Mary’s Table Tennis Team. In the Inter-school Table Tennis Competition, A Grade won the championship in December 2023. In April, 2024, C Grade attained the 1st runner-up. The School won the overall championship in Division Two this school year. Next year, the team will play in Division One.

Hong Kong Mathematical High Achievers Selection Contest

The Hong Kong Mathematical High Achievers Selection Contest is an annual mathematics competition open to secondary school students in Hong Kong up to the Secondary 3 level. The contest attracts participation from over 200 secondary schools across the region.

60th School Dance Festival

We are delighted to announce that our school's Dance Team has achieved an Honours Award in the Chinese Group Dance (Secondary Section) category at the 60th School Dance Festival. This award is one of the three levels of recognition, including the Honours Award (優等獎), Highly Commended Award (甲級獎), and Commended Award (乙級獎). The name of the dance performed is 春到苗嶺 (苗族).

Congratulations to the Dance Team! We eagerly anticipate witnessing more of their graceful dance moves in future performances!

SMCC Junior Choir Won Gold Award

We are thrilled to announce that our Junior Choir was presented the Gold Award at the Joint School Music Competition (Secondary School Choir Challenger) on March 27, 2024, at the Chai Wan Youth Square Y Theatre, organized by the Hong Kong Joint School Music Association (JSMA).

The award is the fruit of the hard work of all junior choir members, our conductor, Ms Clare Chan and our advisor, Ms Viola Chan.

School Orchestra

The SMCC School Orchestra participated in the 76th HK Schools Music Festival (Symphony Orchestra N245) on March 20, 2024, at Tsuen Wan Town Hall. In the Secondary School Class, where a total of 13 groups competed, our orchestra received the Bronze Award.

We want to express our sincere appreciation to all the members of the SMCC School Orchestra for their dedication and hard work throughout the preparation process. We would also like to acknowledge the exceptional guidance and leadership of Mr. Lee Ka Yiu Amos, our conductor.

String Orchestra

The SMCC String Orchestra took part in the 76th HK Schools Music Festival (String Orchestra N242) on March 19, 2024, at Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Among the 21 groups competing in the Secondary School Class, our String Orchestra achieved the remarkable feat of being the 2nd runner-up.

Woodwind Ensemble

The SMCC Woodwind Ensemble participated in the 76th HK Schools Music Festival (Woodwind Ensemble N404) on March 12, 2024, at the Hong Kong Scout Centennial Building- Hall. We are delighted to announce that our woodwind ensemble has been honored with the Bronze Award.

Chinese Instrumental Ensemble

The SMCC Chinese Orchestra participated in the 76th HK Schools Music Festival (Chinese Instrumental Ensemble N572) on February 28, 2024, at Martha Boss Community Centre. Among the 28 competing groups in the Secondary School Class, our Chinese Instrumental Ensemble achieved the remarkable feat of being the 1st runner-up.

Hong Kong Inter-school Choral Festival Competition cum Masterclass

We are thrilled to announce that the St. Mary's Canossian College Intermediate Choir and St. Joseph's College Chamber Boys' Choir have been awarded the prestigious Gold Award in the Hong Kong Inter-school Choral Festival cum Masterclass (Senior Division, Group C) held on February 19, 2024, at Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium.

Under the guidance of Mr. Chris Cheng, Head of the Music Department at St. Joseph's College, the joint choir delivered a captivating performance of the song "RASA SAYANG."

二零二二至二三年度「中國中學生作文比賽」

本校中五戊班張慧琛同學於二零二二至二三年度「中國中學生作文比賽」中脫穎而出，獲得香港賽區「旭日文學之星」（高中組）的殊榮。其參賽作品為「傾訴與傾聽」。

中國中學生作文比賽是由中國中學生作文大賽組織委員會舉辦，為目前在全國教育界規模最大、參與人數最多、影響最廣的作文大賽。

二零二二至二三年度的大賽以「傾聽世界的聲音」為主題，共201間中學，77013位學生參加。獲選的香港賽區「旭日文學之星」（高中組及初中組）於二零二三年七月十三日至十七日曾到山西太原參加決賽。

CYLF Talent Development Scholarship

We are delighted to share with you that 6B Lauren Lam, an artistic swimmer, was one of the awardees of “CYLF Talent Development Scholarship" presented by Changing Young Lives Foundation! She received the honor and the certificate with the rest of the awardees in the Prize Presentation Ceremony held on 21 October 2023.

25th Hong Kong Youth Science & Technology Innovation Competition

The captioned competition aims to nurture students’ innovativeness, creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills. The participating teams will choose “Green Innovation”, “Art Tech”, or “Smart Living” as the theme to establish the problems encountered in the process of the competition. Unleashing their creativity and technological knowledge/skills, students are expected to design and produce specific equipment/appliances/systems to illustrate the solutions.

The Hong Kong Science Fair (HKSF), organised by the Hong Kong Innovation Foundation, provides an interactive platform for students to overcome challenges in the community with an innovative and human-centric way. Technovation Girls 2023 (Hong Kong)

Technovation is a global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers. The Technovation Girls program equips young women (ages 8-18) to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors and parents, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems.

Congratulations to our girls for their excellent achievements in the Technovation Girls 2023 (Hong Kong). Competing against numerous talented teams, our girls Bernice Wong (2A) and Eliz Wong (2A) won the 1st runner up.

SHKP Read to Dream X The Future Engineer Grand Challenge

The captioned competition aims to nurture students' innovativeness, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Participating teams choose from the themes of "Green Innovation," "Art Tech," or "Smart Living" to identify challenges for the competition process. By harnessing creativity and technological knowledge/skills, students are expected to design and create specific equipment, appliances, or systems to present solutions.

Congratulations to our students, Phoebe Chu (4D), Safina Sum (5C) and Miriam Lo (5D), for winning the Second Prize in the captioned competition. Their STEM project was showcased publicly in the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair 2023, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 20th July 2023 to 25th July 2023.

香港傑出學生服務大使獎勵計劃

上述計劃由「國際扶輪 3450 地區」主辦，旨在讓中學生表現他們致力服務社會、樂於與他人合作，以及運用所學知識服務社會的能力。該計劃邀請學校組織學生團隊參與。每個參與的學生團隊須以創新思維，應用 STEM 或其他學科知識，設計和實施屬於以下服務領域中的一個服務項目： (i) 保護環境； (ii) 照顧弱勢群體； (iii) 抵抗疾病或解決心理健康問題； (iv) 彰顯公民責任，並加深對相關行業領域的認識。

童擁AI - CODING ∞ 科技比賽暨作品展2023

由百仁基金主辦的「童擁AI- CODING ∞ 科技比賽暨作品展2023」於2023年7月8日(星期六)，假九龍灣國際展貿中心3號展貿廳圓滿舉行，現場場面熱鬧。非常榮幸邀請到香港特別行政區政府政務司副司長卓永興先生, GBS, 太平紳士、香港特別行政區政府創新科技及工業局副局長張曼莉女士, 太平紳士以及中央人民政府駐香港特別行政區青年工作部副部長宋來先生蒞臨主禮；同時邀請了多位業界嘉賓作評審團，百仁基金一眾理事會成員亦到場出席支持。百仁基金從2019年開始推動童擁A I計劃，主旨是為了協助政府推動編程教育普及化出一分力，好讓我們的下一代能夠盡早學習與科技同行和成長。本次展覽共展出超過40間參與學校及機構的作品和成果，展示學生們在人工智能領域的創新及實踐成果。是次比賽以 SDGs 聯合國可持續發展目標應用於「樂齡科技」作為主題，學生們嘗試運用他們所學的知識，結合人工智能硬體，開發出多樣化的作品。

Infomatrix 2023

Infomatrix is an international computer project competition, born from a desire to bring the world’s best IT students together. The competition is not just about promoting professional excellence; it also serves to promote intercultural dialogue and cooperation, through the involvement of students and teachers from all around the world.

2023 Model United Nations (MUN) Program

Initiated by Beijing Foreign Studies University and organized by Future Education Center Limited, students from Hong Kong, Macau and mainland were grouped into six committees (ECOSOC, ITU, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNHCR, UNWTO) to work on global challenges together. Five Form 5 students joined the 3-day program from 18 to 20 July, which was a valuable learning opportunity for them to develop their leadership, critical thinking, and public speaking skills through simulating United Nations committees.

Congratulations to Michelle Lai (5A), Peony Lai and Faye Tang (5E) who won the Special Leadership awards and our school which was nominated as one of the Best Teams.

The 35th HKSAR Outstanding Student Selection

Another all-rounded Form 5 student, Valerie Lau (5F), has recently become one of the 35th HKSAR Outstanding Students offered by JCI Yuen Long and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Outstanding Students’ Union. Valerie has indeed displayed a high calibre in her essay writings, group and individual interviews. We are all so impressed by and proud of her remarkable performance in multi-faceted aspects.

23rd Millennium Entrepreneurship Programme

In the 23^rd Millennium Entrepreneurship Programme organised by Rotary Club of Harmony and Prosperity Hong Kong and Wofoo Social Enterprises, and co-organised with Rotary Club of Victoria and Rotary Club of Harmony and Prosperity Hong Kong, our students achieved outstanding results. Under the guidance of the mentors arranged by the organizer, all student participants enjoyed a fruitful learning journey about entrepreneurial spirit as well as learning a range of generic skills.

Artificial Intelligence and Innovation and Technology Competition 2022-2023

The "Artificial Intelligence and Innovation and Technology Competition" was jointly organized by the Education Bureau, the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology of the Education University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education, the Hong Kong Joint School Technology Education Association, and the Hong Kong Technology Education Association.

The competition theme was "Using artificial intelligence, innovative technology, or mathematical modeling to solve problems on campus or in daily life." The competition targets secondary school students across Hong Kong and aims to promote education in artificial intelligence and innovative technology, as well as to enhance their creative problem-solving abilities. The organizers hope that through participating in this competition, students will actively engage in campus life, think about problems encountered on campus or in daily life, apply logical thinking, interdisciplinary knowledge, artificial intelligence and innovative technology, mathematical modeling, and plan and create solutions to solve difficult problems, thereby enhancing their creative problem-solving abilities and fostering a spirit of collaboration to solve problems on campus or in daily life.

Congratulations to our girls for their excellent achievements in the competition. Competing against numerous talented teams, our girls received the following awards and over three thousand dollars of vouchers in the award ceremony held on 4 March 2023.

International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada 2022

Congratulations to our girls Jaycee Zhao from 3C, and Ice Chow and Chloe Tam from 3E for their excellent achievement at the International Invention Innovation Competition 2022 held in Canada. With the participation of over 700 inventions from numerous countries, our girls won and received the following awards in the competition held in October last year.

The International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada, iCAN, is a world-recognized premier event of Canada for inventors who have shown continuous growth and improvement since its first edition in 2016 through to 2022, with each year breaking the previous year’s records for the total number of participants, countries taking part and collaborating organizations. The Last 7 editions of iCAN from 2016 to 2022 featured participants from 95 different countries around the world which has elevated and redefined iCAN to become the ultimate global stage for merging worldwide creativity and innovation in Toronto, Canada.

Hong Kong Technology Competition 2022

Our students participated in the Hong Kong Technology Competition 2022 organized by Kelab Creative Science on 31^st May 2022. The competition challenged students to apply their scientific knowledge to design a car capable of climbing a hill.

At the 3rd Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education Outstanding Student Awards Ceremony held on 13 January 2023, Gifted Star Awards, Outstanding Student Award and Outstanding Alumnus Award were presented to 15 student members and alumni to recognise their outstanding attainments in various local and international competitions.

Congratulations to SHING Chloe Benki (F.6F), the awardee of the “Gifted Star Award” (香港資優教育學苑「傑出學員獎」) for her achievement in obtaining the Student of the Year Award 2021-22 (Community Contributor (Final 12)).

Inter-school Cross Country Competition 2022/23

We are happy to announce our school Sports Team has made outstanding achievements in the Inter-school Cross Country Competition 2022/23 (Division III Area 1).

Abby Cheung (1F) won 3rd place in C Grade while Emmie Szeto (3F) was the champion in B Grade. Aubrey Yau (5D) won 2nd place in A Grade and, together with Agnes Tsang (6C) and Avlynn Tsang (6F), won overall champion in A Grade.

Finally, the Team achieved an overall 3rd place in the competition. Participating Sports Team members included Mehmood Hafra (1E), Chloe Yam (1E), Abby Cheung (1F), Carrisa Lam (3E), Emmie Szeto (3F), Priscilla Lam (4E), Aubrey Yau (5D), Agnes Tsang (6C) and Avlynn Tsang (6F).

Vivienne Lee (2C) won the champion in Kowloon Women’s Epee C in Hong Kong Secondary School Fencing Championships and Kowloon Girls C Grade Epee in Inter-school Individual Fencing Competition 22-23. Congratulations!

JC Poetic Heritage Translation Awards 2022

Congratulations to Christy Liu (F.6E) for her outstanding performance in the JC Poetic Heritage Translation Award 2022. Organized by the Department of Linguistics and Translation of City University of Hong Kong, the competition invites students to translate a classical Chinese poem by the 12th century Korean poet Yi Gyubo into English. Christy is awarded the first runner-up in the secondary school division.

Poetry Remake Competition 2021/22

Our students took part in the Poetry Remake Competition, a cross-curricular activity jointly organised by the English Language Education Section and Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute, in 2021/22. To join the competition, students had to create a two-dimensional artwork in response to an English poem written by a poet in Hong Kong, and then write an artist statement in English to explain the ideas in their work.

Two prize-giving ceremonies were held to celebrate their achievements.

On 30 November 2022, the Art Exhibition cum Awards Ceremony of the Poetry Remake Competition 2021/22 was held. Judith and Yidon were presented with Outstanding and Commendable Awards respectively.

The prizes for the Outstanding Awards were presented in the Award Presentation Ceremony of the SOW (English Sayings of Wisdom) Campaign 2021/22 organized by the Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau on 10 December 2022. Judith and Esther, the recipients of the awards, together with their parents, attended the ceremony.

Sharing at the Learning & Teaching Expo 2022

Our school was glad to be a speaker of the topic on "Design Thinking in Education" at the Learning & Teaching Expo 2022. Our teachers, Ms. Jenny Chan and Mr. Benedict Kwok presented the latest STEM development in our school while our girls, Ice Chow and Chloe Tam from Form 3E and Jaycee Zhao from Form 3C, were eager to share their STEM project with the public in the afternoon of 9th December 2022 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Learning & Teaching Expo is Asia’s Leading Education Expo and Hong Kong’s annual signature event for educators. Supported by the education community from Hong Kong, China and increasingly across the Asia-Pacific region, the Expo enters its twelfth year this year. It provides an annual platform for education buyers, governments, school leaders, teachers and educators in Asia to discover and source the latest developments in educational resources and learning technology.

為營造崇尚科學、尊重科學的良好氛團，培養激勵少年兒童講科學、愛科學、學科學、用科學，提升他們的科技創新和實踐能力，中國宋慶齡基金會於2001年設立 “宋慶齡少年兒童發明獎”。該獎項是經國家科技部批准的唯一以國家領導人名字命名的青少年科技活動獎項，由中國發明協會與香港新一代文化協會共同主辦，得到全國青少年和相關機構的大力支持和積極回應。 “宋慶齡少年兒童發明獎”舉辦十七屆以來，參與中小學生超過 100 萬人次。本屆“宋慶齡少年兒童發明獎”共收到來自海內外了3萬余名青少年提交的2萬余件参賽作品，共有423 件作品獲獎，其中發明作品獎 265件、人工智能（編程）作品獎99 件、創意作品獎29件、科技繪畫作品獎30件。

第十七屆宋慶齡少年兒童發明獎香港區頒獎典禮榮邀香港特別行政區財政司副司長黃偉綸先生, GBS, JP 擔任主禮嘉賓以及教育局副局長施俊輝先生, JP、教育局首席助理秘書長謝婉貞女士及香港新一代文化協會主席鄭利明博士擔任頒獎嘉賓。

Science Talk: Towards the Post-antibiotic Era cum
the CityU Science Video Competition 2022 Award Presentation

On 22nd November 2022, a precious opportunity was presented to our girls. Dr. Yun Wah LAM, Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry at CityU shared on the theme “Towards the Post-antibiotic Era”. Dr. Lam shared not only his knowledge about antibiotics, but also the keys to learning science and related experiences on Scientific research.

The talk broadened our girls’ horizons and ignited a passion for STEM in them. At the end of the talk, Dr. Lam presented the Bronze Award of the CityU Science Video Competition 2022 to 5D Genevieve Lai and Laura Wong and had a discussion session with them after the talk.

The CityU Science Video Competition 2022 aims to develop public interest in science and inspire creative thinking about science. Participants created short and innovative videos that explain or demonstrate a scientific principle or phenomenon that would otherwise require many words to communicate. Become a STEM Founder: Guide to Start-up Success

Miriam Lo (F.5D) has just completed the Gifted Programme ‘Become a STEM Founder: Guide to Start-up Success’ co-organised by Jumpstart Media Limited and the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, which was funded by the Education Bureau.

Congratulations to her team who have won the championship of the Demonstration Day Become a STEM Founder: Guide to Start-up Success with their design of a Software named “MomentAR” - it targets at athletes and sport lovers and analyses their performance so as to improve their skills to strike for excellence.

In the programme, students have learnt STEM-related knowledge (such as Artificial Intelligence, Smart Cities, Fintech) and skills in establishing a STEM start-up which included product development, finance, revenue model /pricing, pitching, legalities of start-ups. Students hence made use of such knowledge to design a new product and prepared a pitching demonstration to present their start-up plans to potential investors and start-up entrepreneurs.

CUHK Summer Gifted Program –
Nurturing Gifted Students to be Entrepreneurs:
Solving Business Problems with STEM knowledge

Jenny Chow (F.5D) has just completed joining a summer program organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong – Nurturing Gifted Students to be Entrepreneurs: Solving Business Problems with STEM knowledge, and obtained various prizes in internal competitions.

Her team was awarded the 2nd Runner-up in the Social Media Challenge and won the overall Championship in both Top Group Project and the Hackathon Challenge.

13th "BeiDou" China Adolescent Science & Technology Innovation Contest

Congratulations to our girls Nicole Ng from Form 4E, Lammi Pang, Abbie Wong and Sophia Lo from Form 4F for their excellent achievement at the 13th "BeiDou" China Adolescent Science & Technology Innovation Contest. Competing against numerous teams of talents across our country, our girls won the First Award in the competition.

The 13th "Beidou Cup" National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest was organized by the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Education, the Youth Science and Technology Centre of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology and the China Satellite Navigation System Management Office. It aims to promote the spirit of science and improve the scientific and technological innovation capabilities of young people.

Moreover, Mr. Alfred Sit Wing-hang, JP, former Secretary for Innovation and Technology Bureau, issued congratulatory letters to our school for our outstanding achievements.

22nd Lions International Youth Exchange Scholarship English Essay Competition

We would like to congratulate Lois Lam from Form 4E for her success in the 22nd Lions International Youth Exchange Scholarship English Essay Competition.

After several rounds of selection, involving written work and oral presentations before esteemed judges, Lois was awarded the Championship prize – a Full Exchange Scholarship to one of the overseas Youth Exchange Camps held by the Lions Club.

This year, applicants had to answer the question “Media facilitates search for truth or spreads fake news?” In a day and age when most reading is done through a screen, Lois has given a thoughtful response and has shown impressive level insight into this relevant topic. 本校中文辯論隊於中學辯論比賽「鄧宗偉主席盃」奪冠！

「鄧宗偉主席盃」由元朗大會堂、西北聯青社、嶺南大學、香港大學中文學院中文及文化工作室合辦，旨在令青少年透過辯論方式認識社會時事，擴闊視野，發揮團隊精神。本屆的辯論主題呼應世界現況，定為「經濟金融及醫療」。

本校首次參加「鄧宗偉主席盃」。於二零二一年十月至十二月其間舉行的各場賽事均由中三丙劉倩妤、中三己李懿洛及中五己黃君如三位同學代表出賽，中五己黃君如更於初賽、準決賽及決賽獲頒最佳辯論員獎項。

於疫情下能與其他學校的辯論員實體比賽、切磋交流實是難能可貴，本校辯論隊隊員獲益良多，祈願日後再創佳績。

INTOC Global 2022 International Science Project Competition

Congratulations to our girls Ice Chow, Chloe Tam and Jaycee Zhao from F.2A for their excellent achievement at the INTOC Global 2022 International Science Project Competition. With the participation of over 1000 students from 30 countries, our girls won the Golden Medal in the competition.

INTOC Global 2022 International Science Project Competition is organized by INTOC Global which is an international organization to encourage and bring together productive young minds to produce solutions for the real problems of the world. This competition is supported by different scientists from prestigious institutions such as National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN).

22nd The Millennium Entrepreneurship Programme

Congratulations to Genevieve Lai (Leader), Zita Cheung, Laura Wong, Tinky Luk and Becky Ng from F.4D for their outstanding achievement at the 22nd Millennium Entrepreneurship Programme.

Selected from over a hundred business proposals, the team was selected as one of the 6 finalist teams to conduct the final pitching regarding its business proposal, finally achieving the 5th runner-up and Most Astonishing Team Spirit Award.

MEP (Millennium Entrepreneurship Programme) organized by The Rotary Club of Harmony and Prosperity Hong Kong and Wofoo Social Enterprises, is a tripartite project between secondary schools, business sectors and NGOs, designed to prepare younger generations to be future entrepreneurs.

The theme of the 22nd MEP is “Post- Pandemic Innovation for Social Betterment”, with the aim to cultivate secondary school students to prepare to be future entrepreneurs with an open-mindedness of innovation and social responsibility. The team participated in workshops and worked under business mentor guidance to propose viable business proposals on innovative products.

Hong Kong Young Writers Awards (HKYWA) 2022

Congratulations to Alicia Lau (5F) for her outstanding achievement at the Hong Kong Young Writers Awards (HKYWA) 2022. Selected from over a thousand of entries, Alicia Lau is the winner of the P3 award for Fiction Group 4.

The Hong Kong Young Writers Awards (HKYWA) is an annual competition and fantastic opportunity for aspiring writers to showcase their talents and creativity. The competition’s main aim is to foster excellence in creativity by providing students with the opportunity to develop their expressive talents and expand their horizons.

Over the years, the awards have been sponsored by Search Group, SCAD, Cyberport, Faber-Castell, Bookazine, Canadian Chamber of Commerce, International New York Times, Techni Photo, Plus Group, El Charro, Delaney’s, Shamrock Catering, Max and Mei, Nury Vittachi and Asia Exhibits House.

20th Model ASEAN Summit

In spite of a raging global pandemic, the 20^th Model ASEAN Summit was held on 12^th-13^th February which gathered bright students from countries around Asia to discuss and promote international affairs and mediation. The topic this year was ‘Finding Durable Solutions for Refugees’ and students were tasked with presenting research materials, collaborating and reaching a consensus with other member states.

Our very own Amber Lee from Form 5E participated in this year’s event on Zoom, representing Malaysia in the summit. At the event, she received a High Commendation Award for her performance as well as the Most Outstanding Speaker Award. We are delighted to share her achievement and offer our greatest congratulations for her well-deserved success.

Chamber Debate Club

Starting in late October, the HKFYG hosted a 5-week intensive programme with Debate Mate UK which culminated in a live debate in December. The programme invited world-class debaters to chair the training sessions and guide participants through motions concerning future skills, education, digitalisation, sustainability, and other key global affairs.

One of our students, Amber Lee from 5E, went on to be part of the winning team of the competition and gaining recognition for her public speaking performance. We are immensely proud of her and extend our heartfelt congratulations for her achievement.

FICTAS ABCD Conceptual Competition

We are pleased to announce that Ice Chow (F. 2A) has won the Gold Award and $8,000 book coupons in the FICTAS ABCD Conceptual Competition which is steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and organized by the Hong Kong New Emerging Technology Education Association (HKNETEA). She was honored to represent our school to share her ICT project Acredemic-chain in the award ceremony.
